Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a heterogeneous (mixed) group of breast cancer that does not express estrogen, progesterone, or HER2-neu receptors on its surface. It is less differentiated (more abnormal and unlike breast cells) than receptor-positive tumors and, most often, more aggressive. Treatment for TNBC is rapidly evolving as scientists are attempting to discover new treatment options and possible novel therapeutic targets. Currently, the most effective initial treatment option is chemotherapy, a fact that has been borne out by many rigorous studies over the course of several years. Through this site, I hope to provide some information and options related to diet and lifestyle that may help patients with TNBC optimize the ability of their body to repair following treatment. Some of these methods may also reduce the chances of recurrence and/or the development of new cancers. In no way are these suggestions intended to serve as alternatives to standard therapy. I will also attempt to examine and explain any new published research that could enhance our ability to conquer this disease.
